The heroine Su Wan is a miserable princess. She is mediocre in appearance and not taken seriously. She seems to have a soft personality but is actually a crazy person.
The male protagonist Li Cangshan, a hostage from another country, is in a difficult situation. He is scheming and resourceful, and uses everyone around him to achieve his own goals.
Su Guangbei (the father of the heroine) rebelled against Wu and established the Xuanwu State. He then pursued the victory and defeated the Northern Kingdom. The Northern Kingdom ceded territory to pay compensation and sent Li Cangshan as a hostage. Jimo Lian (the male protagonist Bai Yueguang)'s father and brother both died on the battlefield. In order to change the declining situation of the Jimo family, Jimo Lian took up his spear and vowed to become a general and regain the lost territory. Li Cangshan instigated Su Wan to steal the city defense map, but failed because of the stoppage of the traveler Lin Buyu.
Later, the emperor was fatuous and killed innocent people indiscriminately, destroying his own foundation. Li Cangshan saw the opportunity and joined forces with Jimo Lian to attack Dongliang in Kyoto in one fell swoop.
