From an outsider's perspective, I quietly watched the protagonist in this book continue to go through hardships, and I had no compassion at all.
But at some point, I relented and reached out to him.
I remember clearly that at that moment his voice was hoarse and choked, and his eyes were filled with joy, but more of a sadness.
