Seeing that the dumplings in his bowl were about to be empty, Shen Zhiyin suddenly remembered something. "Wait a minute." She pulled Xu Pan's bowl and looked carefully. Of the two remaining dumplings, one had a green belly.
Without thinking, she poked it with the chopsticks in her hand and put the leek dumpling she had exchanged with Yu Yang into her bowl.
Yu Yang and Chen Yanqi were chatting and ignored them. Shen Zhiyin whispered, "I just exchanged it for the lamb, stuffed with leeks."
"Well, the dumplings are delicious." He paused with the chopsticks in his hand, picked up the last dumpling, and put it into his mouth.
This is probably Xu Pan's biggest compliment for outside food.
"If you don't eat it, I might have to feed it to a stray dog."
On the way home from school, there is an intersection of alleys. There are always a few small dogs sitting and lying there, or making noises with each other. Sometimes they cannot be seen, and they are mostly stray dogs.
Seeing that Xu Pan was silent, Shen Zhiyin realized that he had said the wrong thing after quickly recalling his words, and carefully raised his eyes and turned away from him.
He looked at her inquiringly and whispered, "Just think of me as a stray dog."
