Sheng Bohuai is free and loose by nature. What he likes most is money, and what he hates most is restraint. He advocates the French view of love, which is only love without marriage, but deep down he hates the French's pretentious romanticism.
He said that the happiest life is a life with money and status. Love is just a watch and clothes, an embellishment of life. There is no life-or-death and loyal love in this world. It is the spiritual opium imagined by people who lack love. A man's life should be about building a giant ship and sailing away.
This free and easy view of love had taken root in Sheng Bohuai's mind since he was born. It had been entrenched for thirty-five years, and then undergone earth-shaking changes at the age of thirty-six. He never thought that one day he would say to another man such humble love words as "I love you, can you stay by my side?"
Sheng Bohuai later recalled that the time that changed his mind was actually not when he was thirty-six years old, but when he was twenty-five years old and the day he met Chi Zhou.
