The story is based on the May 12 Wenchuan earthquake, and most of the plot is adapted from real people and social phenomena in the disaster area. Different from ordinary disaster-themed novels, which directly describe the immediate disaster, the author focuses on the reconstruction and life of people after the disaster, recording the lingering spiritual aftershocks of the survivors after the huge earthquake.
"Fighting" comes from the first episode of the novel collection "The People Beyond the River" written by Ding Ling, a survivor of the 2008 May 12 Wenchuan Earthquake and writer. It is a story about a second child born in the earthquake, two fathers who lost their only child, and their family.
