At the last awards ceremony, Xu Yinglan slowly stepped onto the podium on the playground and stood quietly next to Yao Zhiyuan.
Yao Zhiyuan said softly: "Congratulations."
Xu Yinglan faced the spring breeze and said lightly: "Thank you."
The teacher was reading out that Xu Yinglan went from being ranked 315th in her grade when she entered school, to being third in grade after three years of hard work. She hoped that other students would follow this as an example and study hard.
The students standing in the audience had a different interpretation.
After three years of hard work, Xu Yinglan was finally able to compete side by side with Yao Zhiyuan, who was number one in her grade. It was really enviable to others.
The road back is slow, just wait and see.
