On New Year's Day in 1985, a sea disaster almost occurred on the ocean outside Zhenhaikou, Ningbo. A passenger ship bound for Dinghai, Zhoushan from Ningbo was cut off by strong winds and its power lines were severed, causing the rudder to lose control. The ship swayed greatly from side to side on the sea and was in danger of capsizing every minute. The lives of four to five hundred people were at stake, and I was one of them. At this critical moment of life and death, some people are panicked and shouting for help; some are heartbroken and resigned to fate; some are indifferent and take it calmly. But I was surprisingly calm. What I was thinking about at that time was not whether I would die, but how sad my parents would be, and how sad my brothers, sisters, relatives, and friends would be after I died. At the same time, the experiences of my childhood and adolescence with my parents were playing out in my mind like a movie. For hours, I recalled these unique and interesting moments in my life, so much so that I forgot about my fear.
Over the past thirty years, I have thought of this unforgettable experience from time to time and tried to write it down and publish it to the public. However, I was so busy with various things that I never started writing. Now that I am retired and have a lot of time, I finally wrote this article. Although the writing style is immature and difficult to be elegant, the words spoken are all real people and true stories, and the emotions poured into it are sincere. It can be regarded as a small wish fulfilled.
Purpose: The author reveals different views on life and death through his personal experience of a sea disaster that almost happened. Through memories of childhood and adolescence, a strong and sincere love for parents and other relatives is expressed.
