"The Soul of Central Guizhou" is based on the Song-Mongolian War from 1235 to 1279 AD. It tells the story of two local governments in the ancient Guizhou region, the "Sizhou Tian Family" and the "Banzhou Yang Family" assisting the Southern Song Dynasty in fighting the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty.
The Yang family regime in Bozhou, located in today's Zunyi, is the only direct descendant of the Yang family generals in official history that has historical records to rely on. Its regime lasted for more than 700 years. The Tian family regime in Sizhou was established by Tian Zongxian, a famous minister of the Sui Dynasty. Gusizhou included the western part of Tongren City and the northern part of Qiandongnan Prefecture, and lasted for more than 800 years in total.
Although the novel mainly interprets real war stories in history, the whole story uses a clear depiction of the historical process of multiple ethnic groups from "war" to "peace" as the outline of the story. It takes the northern nomads, the Central Plains ethnic groups and the southwestern ethnic groups from confrontation to reconciliation and finally to national integration and unity as the core idea of the novel.
In addition, the novel also vividly and meticulously depicts the rich and colorful multi-ethnic culture in the southwest, such as Leigong Mountain of the Miao people, Nuo opera in the southwest, and the origins of famous towns far away. To a certain extent, "The Soul of Central Guizhou" not only interprets historical stories, but also depicts a beautiful picture of the blending of multi-ethnic cultures.
Purpose: "The Soul of Central Guizhou" interprets a history of integration of our nation from the perspective of describing the Song-Mongolian war. The novel tells how the Han, Mongolian and other ethnic groups in the southwest went from war to peace, and then from peace to integration, that is, the process of finally realizing national unity.
