Before Gu Lingyu met him, he often felt that he lived deep in the ocean, where all light and sound were weak, waiting to die in silence. But Jiang Zexu was like an overwhelming thunder, lighting up his depths vigorously. From then on, thunder became a metaphor that only he knew in the world, and life became a slow fever.
(It was a big pitfall in the early days, and the writing was terrible. I recently revised the first few chapters, and they still feel weird.)
