Extra story about the fishman (lizardman?) Hazel's subordinate Sky
Excerpt:
We live in the highest place in the city and are subordinate to Hazel. The city lord has absolute control over this planet and the eight surrounding star districts. As Hazel's direct subordinates, we are in charge of the blocks under our control. Although I have barely shown my face since taking over, people in the city will send money regularly. I don't understand these things, so every time I ask my companion who is proficient in arithmetic to look at them. He is a local and will take out a weird calculator and dial it around. It is not powered, very long, half as big as a skateboard, and does not display numbers. It is a strange object made of a wooden frame and dozens of strings of wooden beads.
He once taught me how to use this gadget, but I forgot it very quickly, so every time I had a drink and begged him to help me reconcile the ledgers. He promised to sit at the table and flip through the ledgers with one hand, while the other hand moved like the wind on his strange gadget. I was lying on the sofa watching soap operas and complained that he could only smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. He threw the unextinguished cigarette butts on me and burned me.
"It's not you yet."
The work he was doing slowed down as soon as he spoke to me, "Honeydew melon popping beads."
