In 1940, the Anti-Japanese War entered its third year. As the Japanese army stepped up its raids and blockade of our anti-Japanese base areas in northern Hubei, the supply of more than 10,000 people in the main force of the Fifth Division of our New Fourth Army in Dawushan and Xiaowushan was a big problem. In order to break the Japanese military encirclement and economic blockade, the Xiaogan County Committee of the Communist Party of China (underground) ordered the secret formation of a guerrilla force, code-named "Hongjian". Since then, the Hongjian guerrillas have gone deep into the Xiaonan Lake District and carried out special tasks such as establishing secret transportation lines.
In order to wipe out the Hongjian guerrillas, General Nishio, the commander of the Japanese army's headquarters in Wuhan, ordered the commander of the Japanese army stationed in Xiaogan, Colonel Ujima, and the military police captain Gangcun to form the "Aegis Rangers" and sent the traitor Li Hailin to break into the guerrillas, making the struggle more complicated, sharp, and cruel. Hongjian also paid a huge price and sacrifice for this. Under the strong leadership of County Party Secretary Qin Weishan, he promptly adjusted his struggle strategy and deployment, divided and disintegrated the enemy, dealt a heavy blow to the arrogance of the Japanese invaders, and defended the supply lifeline to the death.
