I have always been obsessed with a TV series "Shanghai" I watched when I was a teenager. Is it because of the tragic ending of love or the irresistible charm of Chow Yun-fat, I can't tell. No love story I will see in the future is as touching as this: "If I love you and hate you, asking if you know it is like a river that never stops."
I decided to add an ending to a dream I had when I was a child, and wrote the book "Back to Time", which is a story written after "Shanghai Beach" (it describes the grievances and hatreds of the descendants of Xu Wenqiang, Feng Chengcheng, Ding Li, and Yamaguchi Koko. The book has more than 380,000 words and is divided into four parts: 1. The Young Bride 2. Heartbreak 3. At the End of the World 4. As if from Another World).
Because I love Zhang Ailing very much, I also like the desolate tone. I originally planned to make the hero and heroine in the book never see each other after separation, or maybe they meet but are unable to recover, just like Manzhen and Shijun in "Eighteen Spring". But after all, I am still a soft-hearted person, and I cannot avoid clichés after all. I rewrote the ending to leave a little room for everyone's imagination. People always have a little hope. So, this is just a popular novel about love, nothing more.
I would like to share it with friends who love "Shanghai Beach".
