Wu Liangha·Aju×Jiang Cai
Jiang Cai is from Haozhou. Short and tough appearance. When he was young, he was plundered into Heshuo. When he was older, he died and returned. He was assigned to the Huainan army and was famous for his good fighting skills. In July of the first year of Jingyan, Jiang Cai and Li Tingzhi led 7,000 troops south to Fujian on the orders of Duanzong. A Shu led the Yuan army in pursuit. When the Song army entered Taizhou, the Yuan army surrounded them on all sides and sent envoys to summon them to surrender, but Jiang Cai refused. A Shu ordered an attack on the city day and night. At this time, Jiang had a gangrene attack on his back and was unable to move. Pi generals Sun Gui and Hu Huaixiao rebelled and surrendered to the enemy, welcomed the Yuan army into the city, and dedicated Li Tingzhi and Jiang Cai to the Yuan army. Ah Shu asked Li Tingzhi why he didn't surrender? Jiang Cai answered first: "I am the one who refuses to surrender." Then he continued to curse angrily. Ah Shu loved his loyalty and bravery and could not bear to kill him. He persuaded Jiang Cai to return to the Yuan Dynasty with the promise of a high official and a generous salary, but Jiang sternly refused: "Jiang was born only to be a minister of the Song Dynasty. He would rather be broken by jade or destroyed by orchids than live forever in rubble. He will never become a minister of the Yuan Dynasty!"
