They denied her riding posture, her dress, her wealth, her appearance, her works, and her character.
They called Emily's callous rejection of the proposal arrogance.
I have seen the sea. The huge black water in the dark night was picked up by the strong wind and roared towards the cabin. The mast shook, the ship's side screamed, and lightning struck into the water.
My hands pulled through the hard reins, held up the wooden oars of Venice, and brushed against the cold flintlock guns.
How could I be afraid, how could I make peace?
