Middle age, according to the online encyclopedia, generally refers to people aged 35-55. When you celebrate your 35th birthday, people will start to wish you: Happy middle age, or: Life has entered the next stage, congratulations. The age group of youth recognized in the world is 15-24 years old.
So how do we define those who have passed their 24th birthday but have not yet entered the next stage of their lives? Between the ages of 24 and 35, people who have shed the shy shell of youth but have not yet grown into complete middle-aged people seem to be waiting in line for the baptism of age with a ticket to middle age. Day after day, they are led by the phrase "about to enter middle age" across time.
When do people realize that they are about to enter middle age?
Did it start with the first back pain; did it start with the death of a loved one; or did it start with finally realizing that the person you loved was a complete asshole?
As we enter middle age, we will eventually discover that aging is not all without its benefits, and that human inability to resist time may not be a bad thing. People holding the middle-aged ticket cannot tear it off, but until that ticket is successfully redeemed, perhaps all we can do is adjust our mood when entering, maintain a graceful posture, lift up our skirts, and be ready to enter the happy party called middle-age beautifully at any time.
