50 Years ago, Jiangning City organized thousands of urban residents to be sent to the countryside. Quan Genhua, a veteran employee of the Telecommunications Bureau, and Diao Huaiding, a freelancer, all took their families and were sent to Yuntai County in northern Jiangsu. Like tens of millions of people who were transferred to rural areas, they struggled to survive in remote villages and at the bottom of society, with the help of simple fellow villagers, and performed their colorful stories of joys and sorrows.
Purpose: to reflect on the harm caused by extreme leftism, to serve as a foil for today's people-centered governing philosophy, to eulogize the unyielding spirit born of hardship, and to show the beautiful life of wind and rain and rainbows.
