Xiang Nuan has low self-esteem, so low that she is cautious when getting along with others; she has low self-esteem to the point where she has to act in her mind several times before getting off the bus; she has low self-esteem to the point that when she graduated from high school, Nan Sheng, a boy she had had a crush on for three years, confessed to her but was rejected by her. It wasn't until she met Nan Sheng again after graduating from college that Xiang Nuan realized that the flamboyant young man whom she regarded as her salvation also regarded herself as her salvation.
