An unexpected flight incident tied Shu Yi, a co-owner of a bookstore, to a mysterious man from Taiwan, Xiong Chu'e. Xiong Chu'e was impulsively stabbed by his female companion. The female companion left him and followed the others on the lifeboat to escape and lied that there was no one on the island. Shu Yi was left on the island because she was too slow to board the ship in time.
