He accidentally discovered the whereabouts of the old prince's heir. When he learned that An Ling had returned to Beijing in place of Pei Yao, he deliberately approached him and took advantage of the situation to find out the ministers who supported the old emperor.
Note: It is tentatively confirmed that the male and female protagonists have no real feelings for each other. I don't know if they will be really attracted to each other in the future, or the male protagonist may be replaced.
