"Did you hear the quarrel last night?"
He broke away from the game and looked at me with a puzzled look on his face: "What's the quarrel?"
I looked at him in surprise.
"Maybe you slept too deeply. The noise was quite fierce last night."
"How to say?"
He stopped what he was doing and asked me curiously, as if he had indeed not heard the sound from the night before.
I sighed and took a bite of the rice in the bowl.
"I heard the sound of someone picking up a stool to fight, but I didn't know what happened next."
