Before her mother gave birth to her, she dreamed of Guanyin Bodhisattva holding an osmanthus branch. She thought the Bodhisattva predicted that her name would be related to osmanthus. In the dream, the Bodhisattva said: "Her name is Liu Sha, which represents the eternal word 'Liu' and the word 'Sha' which represents sin." Her mother was startled. She woke up from her dream and opened her eyes to see the word "Liu Sha" written vaguely on the curtain. It disappeared in an instant. She said this was the Bodhisattva's wish and could not be violated. So her name was - Xie Liusha.
