Assamites from the desert of the Middle East, killers among the vampires. Due to their unique background, they believe in a mixture of various Middle Eastern religions and vampire mythology. They believe that the only way for a vampire to reach heaven is to get as close as possible to the original vampire ('The One'), that is, to try to reduce the generation gap between themselves and the original vampire. This is achieved by sucking (diablerie) other vampires older than themselves. In order to prove the legitimacy and correctness of their actions, the Assamites claimed that the founder of their clan had killed two second-generation vampires. To an Assamite, sucking the blood of another vampire is like consuming Holy Communion.
