When I first read "Dead Blood·Stop the Sorrow", I originally came here for the feelings of the "Ultimate Family" IP, but I didn't expect that the wind and blood, love and regret of Tie Shikong would firmly capture my mood. This sequel does not indulge in the halo of the original work. Instead, it uses more delicate brushstrokes to cut open the flesh and soul of a group of "guardians" under the shell of supernatural combat.
The most poignant thing is never the gorgeous superpower showdown, but the "imperfections" of the characters hidden under the powerful shell. Moxibustion Dance is regarded by everyone as a "god with insight into the past and present", but he can't sleep because of Han Bing who can't find his childhood. In the days when he loses his sense of taste, he will secretly feel sad because he can't drink the bitterness of coffee. His "godhead" and "humanity" are always in tension. This contradiction makes him no longer a floating leader symbol, but a young man who can feel pain and miss the past. Xiu's creed of "only playing the piano, not talking about love" was originally thought to be a cold-blooded persistence, but until Jing appeared with the melody of "Love Enough", I saw his restrained heartbeat: he would run to help Jing find her sister, and would lose control when she was in danger. Even confessions had to be hidden in work conversations through the power of "transmitting sound into secrets" - this restrained love was more precious than straightforward sweetness. Later, when Jing died on the battlefield, Xiu's tearful words "So you want to come back alive to chase me" became a thorn in his heart. The entanglement between Moxibustion Wu and Han Bing is even more fatalistic. From the longing for childhood separation to the pull of "betrayal and redemption" after reunion, their love is wrapped in too much helplessness: Han Bing's "defection" is not a simple evil, and Moxibustion Wu's "forgiveness" is not an easy compromise. This complexity makes the emotion break away from the clichés of black and white and add a bit more weight to reality.
The BE ending of the main text made me put it on hold for a long time, not daring to read on. The moment Jingzhan died, the wind in Iron Time and Space seemed to have stopped - the girl who came for her promise and ran for her sister finally fell on the battlefield of Guardian without even saying a complete confession. But it is this "unsatisfaction" that gives the story a profound power: it does not give the characters a "golden finger", nor does it let love take precedence over responsibility. Instead, it allows us to see that the price of protection is never a slogan, but that someone has to bury regrets in time for the sake of peace. Fortunately, the happy reunion in the extra chapter gave this regret a gentle outlet: Jing was reborn and returned to meet Moxi Wu and Han Bing again. Moxi Wu and Han Bing untied the knot of the past. Those fragments that were broken in the main text were finally put together into a perfect appearance in the extra chapter. This "first suppression and then expansion" design not only retains the depth of the story, but also gives readers a spiritual comfort.
When I closed the book, I remembered the sentence "Everything is the best arrangement" in the book.
