During the Spring and Autumn Period, a life-and-death struggle broke out among various vassal states. Not only between states, but also between ministers, officials, and even fathers, sons, and brothers within a state, they bit each other without any sense of etiquette, justice, and did anything they could - all for the sake of "profit." Against this background, the two countries Wu and Chu launched a decades-long duel in order to expand their territories and become kings and hegemons. As neighboring countries, Wu and Chu have been in constant territorial friction. In addition, they both have ambitions to conquer the Central Plains and dominate other countries. Each sees the other as an obstacle and wants to destroy it quickly. It happened that Wu Zixu, who had a family feud, fled to Wu and coincided with the ambitious Helu.
The novel takes the Wu State's plot to destroy Chu as the main line, and the Wu State's attack on the evil Yue State, and eradicates the remaining forces of the assassinated former king Ji Liao as the secondary line. It tells the story of Wu Zixu, Bo Pu, Yao Li, Sun Wu and others who gathered under the command of Wu King Helu for their own purposes and staged a brutal life-and-death fight. The cruelty and viciousness of Helu, the conqueror of the country, the scheming of conspirators Wu Zixu and Fan Li, the ferocious determination of Wufu Qingji, Yao Li, Zhuanzhu, and Jiao Qiuxin, and the insidious and shameless villains Bo Pi and Fei Wuji combine to create scenes filled with blood. Even though there are sad and tender feelings between Zhuanyi and Shengyu, Wu Zixu and Huan Shanu, and Chunxiang, they all have tragic endings, adding a touch of despair to life. In the end, the Wu State finally realized its long-cherished wish to destroy Chu, but what followed was a disaster that would turn the world upside down.
