Lu Tao and Xu Zeming come from a small mountain village called "Shigenniu" in the mountains of northwest Sichuan.
In 2004, they took the college entrance examination together. Xu Zeming was admitted to the computer science and technology major of Shenzhen University, but Lu Tao failed.
