This story uses the rhythm of prose poetry to describe a love affair that spans life and death, and spans time and space: During the Anti-Japanese War in Western Yunnan, the soldiers of the expeditionary force who fought in Burma withdrew to China and then participated in the battle to recapture Tengchong. The history of the Tengchong Anti-Japanese War is known as the Scorched Earth Anti-Japanese War. When Tengchong was recovered, all the stone cities were destroyed. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, some soldiers of the expeditionary force did not participate in the civil war and chose to stay in Tengchong, fell in love with Tengchong women and started a family. It was under this background that the heroine Aying and the hero Achang formed a family. However, fate played a trick on them, and the two ended up on different sides, but their love still lasts forever.
