There is a large lotus pond in the Shogun's Mansion in Kyoto; there are viewing pavilions on both sides of the lotus pond. Flower-viewing feasts are always held when the lotus flowers are in full bloom. There are many colorful ornamental fish under the big lotus leaves, and koi fish sneak out of the water from time to time. The young ladies in the mansion often play and paint by the lotus pond.
The General's Mansion is very large, divided into four courtyards: east, west, north and south. The lotus pond stretches from the east courtyard to the Xiaolan Pavilion in the courtyard. Xiaolan Pavilion is not prosperous, and is even incompatible with the prosperity in front. This is a courtyard that has long been abandoned, but it was renamed Xiaolan Pavilion after Aunt Lan and Miss San moved in. This is a forgotten corner...
