When I finished writing this book, I decided to continue living...
An incident I experienced in 2017 gave me the urge to write. At that time, I was at the lowest point and gloomiest in my life, and I desperately wanted to go to another world. But the people and things that came to mind made me decide to write this book. This book was written in 2018 and was not completed until New Year's Day in 2021, a full three years.
Most of the content of this book is based on what I have seen and experienced in my own life, and covers many topics, such as feminism, X minorities, the marriage system, parent-child relationships, family of origin, suicide due to depression, etc. These are all controversial topics that modern people like to discuss most. In addition, it also touches on artistic topics such as classical music, musicals, Takarazuka Revue, folk music, poetry, etc. It is also a collection of meditations about ideals, about independence, and about the ultimate meaning of life.
I don't know whether I should call this book a novel, because when writing most of the content, I aimed to restore my own most authentic life experiences and thoughts, but some of the chapters are indeed consistent with novel creation, so let's call it a documentary novel for now.
From the perspective of the heroine Yu Zhiyin, the novel tells the story of why a woman does not want to get married and have children, why she is so persistent in pursuing her ideals, why she pursues gender equality and sexual orientation equality, why she commits suicide and why she lives. And her reflections on acute family conflicts and social conflicts.
I would like to dedicate this article to all those who pursue equality, those who have had ideals, those who have thought of committing suicide, those who have been discriminated against or prejudiced, those who are lonely, and everyone who reads it...
