The novel writes about people who are not outstanding one after another, and miss the story because they are afraid of being judged to fail and dare not move forward. It is poignant or safe.
Purpose: It's not that others treat us as spare tires, it's just that we don't dare to put in the effort that we would have to put in if we weren't spare tires.
