I would like to write this book to my sister who emerged from her cocoon and became a butterfly - dedicated to that old time soaked in tears and warmth, and also dedicated to the half of her life that she never bowed her head.
————————————————
In the rural areas of the 1980s, where sons were valued over daughters, my sister was destined to have a rough life: she was kicked out of her old home, she lacked love in her childhood, and her marriage was dominated by her father.
She fell in love with her childhood sweetheart, but was separated due to family background; she met a down-to-earth craftsman, but missed out on the sky-high price of the gift; she married a wealthy farmer out of anger, but ended up with a marriage involving alcoholism and domestic violence.
The mark of the times and the shackles of family trapped her like an invisible net. But the tenacity in her bones made her resolutely decide to break out of her cocoon and raise her son alone in the county town. In the end, she waited for the man who would protect her and sacrifice everything for her.
From the dim light at the bottom of the cellar to the quietness of the years, she took this step for 38 years. It is the epitome of a generation of rural women struggling, persevering, and finally emerging from their cocoons in the torrent of the times. It hides the tears and warmth of the old days, and also hides the hope that will never give up.
