Jiang Hai was arranged by his parents to go to the countryside because of some matters. In this isolated village, he met Yu Sheng, a small landowner. Yu Sheng was seventeen years old but had intellectual problems and depended on her sister. Jiang Hai fell in love with Yu Sheng while working and living in the countryside. When the two began to live together, Jiang Hai's parents came with a girl. Jiang Hai got into trouble just to save her. The country girl made a condition that she would tell the truth as long as Jiang Hai married her. Jiang Hai hesitated for a long time and finally decided to go back with his parents to prove his innocence and asked Yu Sheng to wait for him. When the matter was over, he would take Yu Sheng away. He waited for Jiang Hai to come back every day for the rest of his life. He remembered Jiang Hai saying that his home was by the sea and he could find his home by walking along the stream. Yu Sheng went to find Jiang Hai. He kept walking along the stream, but he neither saw Jiang Hai's home nor returned to the village.
