How will you recall the ghosts of the past?
————————
At three o'clock in the afternoon in Naples, the mille-feuille rolls in the baking pan lost their former appeal. They looked like thick winter cotton clothes, forcing me to lock the door of the dessert shop early. The ground was a little sticky.
The stone road in Naples absorbed the sunlight, and the hot air wrapped around the exposed ankles, eventually climbing to the roots of the legs, burrowing into people's skin, and traveling along the blood.
The streets exuded a strong smell of greasy food, and the sultry summer air carried it into the nostrils of pedestrians. I swear I smelled the smell of rancid butter.
