A beautiful fairy tale always starts from "the cruel oppression of the big devil", ends with "the battle of wits and courage between the warrior and the big devil" as the climax, and finally "the warrior defeats the devil" is the natural result of the fairy tale.
So, their story does have the elements that a fairy tale should have, although the "passing" part takes up too long and is not short, concise and soul-stirring enough. But it can still be called a lovely atypical fairy tale.
