"Welcome to Pangea, this is your paradise on earth." The mechanical female voice looped over and over in my mind, like a stubborn virus.
Li Muke opened his eyes suddenly, and the annoying voice suddenly stopped. In front of him was a huge screen, flashing snowflakes that resembled a signal failure. He looked around and saw nothing but endless blue void.
The giant screen flashed violently several times, then suddenly went black. Immediately afterwards, the screen began to switch wildly: city, ruins, starry sky, deep sea... Until everything suddenly stopped——
It's a rainy night.
In the lonely alley, the damp bluestone reflects the dim street lights. There were intermittent cries in the distance, as if broken by rain. Four-year-old Li Muke stood at the entrance of the alley, holding a red-faced oil-paper umbrella tightly in his little hands, the umbrella surface crackling with raindrops.
He raised his head and looked forward, suddenly tilted his head, revealing an innocent but weird smile.
The dust-laden memories came flooding back. That night was his eternal nightmare. Li Muke stared at his own smile on the screen, feeling a chill run down his spine. He couldn't help but shudder. He took a few steps back and hit his back heavily against the cold wall of void.
The screen was still playing relentlessly, as if forcing him to relive every detail. He gritted his teeth and had only one thought in his mind:
Damn it! What the hell is this place!
——
Pangea, a mysterious space parallel to the earth.
The "people" behind the scenes will randomly select samples from the earth and plunge them into this unknown territory. Everyone who comes here will be given special powers to survive in this crisis-ridden world.
Pangea is filled with all kinds of strange things:
Some of them are lurking at the end of school corridors, some are hiding in exam score sheets, and some are hiding in the shadow of grade assessments.
Each assessment may determine whether you are temporarily sent back to reality, or whether you stay in this strange land forever.
The rainy night in the alley, the shadow under the red umbrella, the back of the adoptive father, the absence of the biological father, the jingle of wind chimes, the remaining warmth of the bookmark, the silence of the uninhabited island, the fire of hell, the hovering bird, the fallen angel...
These seemingly unrelated fragments are intertwined into a huge network in the gaps of parallel time and space.
The rift in time and space is like a torn wound, and there is endless darkness deep in the tunnel.
The self-consciousness floats in it, like an island that can collapse at any time.
In Pangea, what you see may not be real;
What you believe may just be a tampered memory.
And the only thing you can rely on is yourself——
And that little bit of reason that still refuses to give up even on the verge of collapse.
