I once heard a story about a scholar who saw a scorpion washed into a pond when he was walking on a rainy day, so he reached out and fished the scorpion out without thinking. The answer was: "It is the scorpion's nature to sting, and it is my nature to be kind. How could I give up my kind nature just because it stings?"
