The initial plan is to write a Harry Potter story for the pro era, which may not necessarily extend to the child era.
Although Snape in Rowling's story is a good person, he is really difficult to get along with! I personally am not good at getting along with such people. In comparison, the little lions are naive, enthusiastic and easy to get along with! Therefore, the protagonist in the story mainly likes small animals (except for the awkward little snake).
