Who told you I was an NPC?
I’m a player too!
Yan Yunqing played a city-building game called 《Become the Demon King Today》.
With his chuunibyou tendencies, he gathered a bunch of lunatics as his subjects and built a vast empire.
Then he quit the game.
But the game kept sending him messages from time to time:
【Your subjects are panicking because they can’t find you】
【Your subjects have rioted because their king has disappeared】
【Your subjects want to kill the king!!!】
Fed up with the constant notifications, Yan Yunqing changed his phone number, and the world finally went quiet. Then one day, he heard that 《Demon King》 was getting an online multiplayer version. The next moment, he was inside the game, an undocumented resident in another world.
The good news was that he had not only a player interface but also an NPC interface, which let him give quests to players.
The bad news was that the empire he had once built had fallen apart. His followers and subjects had gone their separate ways and rebelled.
And he seemed to have become the most wanted criminal in the other world.

《Return》 was a game with an utterly unremarkable name that suddenly launched one day.
It billed itself as the first fully immersive virtual reality game with all five senses, drawing countless players eager to make their mark.
A mysterious NPC caught the players’ attention.
[Holy crap, he doesn’t just sell weapons, he can teach advanced skills too?]
[This NPC gives you a hidden quest connected to the Lost Ruins!!]
[What the heck, how did this NPC beat up the Dragon King? Who is he???]
Yan Yunqing looked at the naive players before him and, smiling brightly, pulled out a pile of junk left in his inventory from when he used to play 《Demon King》, waiting for players to take the bait.
Players: !!!
These stats! These attributes! An early-game god-tier item!!! Buy, buy, buy!!!

【Wait, who is this mysterious NPC, exactly?? Has anyone dug into his backstory? Why does he seem to have ties to the top fighters of so many factions? Have I run into the actual king of the harem in this game?】
Reply 47903: OP, those top fighters from the factions you mentioned all seem to have come from the same place in the past...
Reply 47904: Anyone who did the hidden quest in the Lost Ruins should know that they’re actually called the [Lost Empire]. The quest text says the Demon King once ruled there. Then one day the Demon King suddenly disappeared, and the subjects rebelled. The place gradually became the ruins we see now. The Demon King’s guards disbanded on the spot and went on to form the major factions we have today.
Reply 47905: So, what kind of backstory could an NPC have if he has complicated ties to all the Demon King’s former subordinates... You tell me.

《The Dumb Kid Becomes a Scientific Research Big Shot》 (My Dumb Kid)
(They raise each other in the early chapters, then build a technological superpower later; pseudo-incest; you are the rose I planted with my own hands)
Ji Fan lost his mother at five. When he was seven, his father married a stepmother and, after that, he might as well have lost his father too.
At ten, Ji Fan was lucky to get one decent meal a day, and he had to endure his stepmother’s beatings. So he ran away from home and began wandering the world.
He survived by collecting discarded goods. Occasionally, he’d come across a “fat sheep” and steal enough money to treat himself to a meal at a restaurant.
He lived like that for two years, until one snowy night when he was twelve and found a “New Year’s painting doll” beside a trash can.
The little one looked about five or six, with snow-white skin and big, round, sparkling eyes gazing up at him.
Ji Fan had meant to ignore the child, but somehow he stopped.
“Hey, kid, where’s your family?”
The little New Year’s painting doll didn’t understand. He could only look at him with those big, grape-like eyes.
Ji Fan crouched in front of him. “Why aren’t you talking? Are you mute?”
The little New Year’s painting doll still didn’t answer.
Ji Fan: “You don’t have a family either, do you?”
Ji Fan: “Why don’t you come home with me? I’ll be your big brother from now on, so we’ll both have family.”
Ji Fan: “If you don’t answer, I’ll take that as a yes.”
At last, the little New Year’s painting doll reacted. He opened his mouth and haltingly repeated, “Big brother?”
Ji Fan’s lips curved into a smile. He scooped the child up. “That’s right. I’m your big brother.”
Together, they set off home, and Ji Fan had a family again.
Lin Yue Bai was a scientific research robot. His purpose was to help scientists create more powerful weapons and unite the universe.
But just one month after he was created, with his chip having only finished processing all the scientific research materials once, the rebel forces bombed the research institute in his universe.
Lin Yue Bai was annihilated along with it in an explosion powerful enough to destroy a planet.
When he opened his eyes again, he was in an unfamiliar place.
A human with hair covering one eye stood before him, chattering away in a language he hadn’t been programmed to understand.
Lin Yue Bai couldn’t understand.
But his built-in emotion recognition program could tell that the human’s voice rose with anticipation when he said one particular word.
Lin Yue Bai repeated that word.
And so the human brought Lin Yue Bai back to a little shack.
Lin Yue Bai had found a home on this unfamiliar Blue Star.
He became his big brother’s dumb kid.
A hundred years later, people looked back on Lin Yue Bai, whose name filled their textbooks.
His life was full of achievements. He was hailed as the greatest scientist of the twenty-second century and the father of humanity.
Only Ji Fan knew that the handsome young man standing at the center of the stage, holding his award, was the rose he had found on a snowy night and planted with his own hands.
The dumb kid who had once known only how to call him big brother.

《I Think My Neighbor Might Be a Little Mushroom》
(A socially anxious nonhuman top x a sunny, cheerful young man on the bottom)
Yu Xizhi noticed that someone had moved into the house next door, which had been empty for a long time.
The newcomer seemed to be an office worker who left early and came home late. Yu Xizhi knocked on his door several times with freshly baked cupcakes, but never got an answer.
As the days passed, Yu Xizhi gradually realized that his neighbor might be a little mushroom spirit.
Evidence 1: He was never around, liked to hide in the shadows, and even when Yu Xizhi occasionally saw him, he wore a mask. He was so socially anxious that he seemed like he might go plant mushrooms in a corner at any moment.
Evidence 2: Ever since the new neighbor moved in, little mushrooms of all kinds had occasionally popped up in the corners of Yu Xizhi’s home.
And one piece of evidence that didn’t quite count as evidence: whenever Yu Xizhi caught his neighbor in an embarrassing moment, time would inexplicably rewind.
Sometimes it rewound ten minutes. Sometimes it went back an entire day.
Curious about his new neighbor, Yu Xizhi began keeping a little mushroom observation diary.
Bai Xun was a strand of fungus. After growing for millions of years, he had gained intelligence and learned how to imitate humans and blend into society.
But he was still bad at interacting with people. Whenever he got nervous, little mushrooms would sprout around him.
He fell in love with a human at first sight.
He moved in next door to that human.
He spied on the human from the shadows, his invisible mycelium spreading little by little and taking over the other man’s home, waiting for the chance to strike a fatal blow.
He heard the adorable human mutter to himself, “Does the gentleman next door not like me?”
Nervously, he sprouted a little mushroom.
The human smiled and poked his little mushroom. “What do you think, little mushroom?”
“Would you like to have dinner with me, my dear Mr. Little Mushroom?”
Before getting together with Mr. Little Mushroom
Yu Xizhi: Little mushrooms are so cute. (Clutches his face)
After getting together with Mr. Little Mushroom
Yu Xizhi: Who said this mushroom was little? This mushroom is amazing, mmph! (Mouth full)
Theme: The love and courage you experience are precious beyond measure
The ending is pretty flowery, a bit high and low. To be honest, this ending still bothers me. It's so baffling.
... Although I have seen copywriting recycled very late, this is the first time I have seen it recycled in an extra chapter, and it was the last chapter [Dog Head] that I couldn't fix.
I want to know what happened to Alice and Cornelia, and I want to see the daily life of Yiyuan Qian and his relatives [shy] why it ended so suddenly [split]
Whose good guy's copywriting was recycled in the extra episode...
It ended so hastily and the ending was too rough
It's amazing. The author's love for the country can be seen in the content. Then why does he like to write about that Korean boy band?
[Orange candy] I got it [Orange candy] I got it [Orange candy] I got it [Orange candy] I got it
I finished reading it in one go. The writing is great, but it makes me so sad that a group of innocent children died. I can't do it anymore. I'm taking my time.
I really like Yuli and Dini, they are such well-behaved and sensible babies.
Take a look at whether I am fully booked [split][split]
