In order not to restrict the ages of Jiajia and Gray, we set the age of Gray to be 17 and Jiajia to be 13.
Then Ange and Lei Shi were high school classmates, and the others didn't know each other before going to college.
The mecha setting is just to give Garderos an excuse to fight Gray instead of doing Mathematical Olympiad questions.
