Xiao Zixian, courtesy name Jingyang, was the eighth son of Xiao Yi, the second son of Xiao Daocheng, Emperor Gao of Qi in the Southern Dynasty, and King Xiao Yi of Wen Zhang of Yuzhang. Xiao Ziyun, courtesy name Jingqiao, was the ninth son of Xiao Yi, the second son of Xiao Daocheng, Emperor Gao of Qi in the Southern Dynasty. The two brothers were of the same age, and both were famous writers and historians in the Xiao Qi royal family. However, Xiao Qi was an unpopular dynasty, so not many people knew about them.
