I returned to Guangshui City from Wuhan to celebrate the New Year. According to local custom, I planned to go back to the countryside on the second day of the Lunar New Year to pay New Year greetings to my 85-year-old father. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, I learned that Guangshui City had implemented traffic control. I called my father and explained in every possible way. There were always four words on the phone: Who are you? My father is deaf and cannot hear a word. I am anxious and helpless. The only consolation is that my second brother returned to his father years ago. In order not to cause trouble for the government, I suppress the longing for my father in my heart and stay at home to complete my novel creation. When the spring flowers bloom and the virus disappears, I will submit a satisfactory answer for my old father and myself.
In 1982, three sisters from Taoyuan Village, Liu Chenai, Zhang Guihua, and Li Ping, went to college with the dream of becoming writers. As a result, in order to improve their chances of admission, the school left five repeat students in the liberal arts class to take the college entrance examination. Therefore, Liu Chenai wanted to be self-taught, and Li Ping Embarking on the sad road of repeating their education, Zhang Guihua became a private teacher, and later went to a health school under her own name as Li Ping. After their dreams of going to university were shattered, they placed all their hopes on the next generation. The work spans nearly thirty years and mainly narrates the academic examination experiences of two generations.
