Later, he was bewitched by a tree demon and became a demon. Thousands of resentful spirits in the underworld obeyed his orders, and they were quite capable of destroying the world. The gods stepped forward to suppress him, awakening the nine-day demon-suppressing array, and sealing the tree demon. Du Yu was also injured by the Demon Subduing Array, his cultivation was gone, and he was dying. He was later collected by Manjushri Bodhisattva, soaked in the bottom of the Wangchuan River, and slept for thousands of years...
