Lin Yubai was abandoned by her parents when she was 5 years old. She was abused by her adoptive father since childhood. Later, she finally escaped from her adoptive father's clutches. An unfortunate childhood experience caused Lin Yubai to suffer from severe depression.
Depression, also known as depressive disorder, is characterized by significant and persistent low mood and is the main type of mood disorder. Clinically, it can be seen that the depressed mood is not commensurate with the situation. The depressed mood can range from sullenness to grief, low self-esteem and depression, and even pessimism and world-weariness. There may be suicide attempts or behaviors; even stupor occurs; some cases have obvious anxiety and motor agitation; in severe cases, hallucinations, delusions and other psychotic symptoms may occur.
