The book begins with a flashback from the perspective of the heroine, architect Meng Ling, telling the story of her persistence in love and her efforts towards her ideals. Meng Ling's paranoia about love took a detour and she encountered a bottleneck period in her ideals, but it did not let her give up. She still worked hard in life and had intertwined love-hate relationships with three men, which allowed her to grow and finally understand the true meaning of love and life.
