This is a short novel describing psychological changes and struggles.
The story tells that everyone has unrealistic pursuits in their heart. Many people cannot withstand the temptation and use their purest hearts to make unequal exchanges. Once they feel that they have been cheated, they will regret it and hate the person who tempted them; but the most fundamental source of jealousy and resentment is their own heart. If you say that others are tempting you, it is better to say that you have desires.
The story is dominated by the figure of the "Rat Woman", who is half human and half animal, as is her temperament. Because of "reincarnation", I exchanged my purest heart, but there is something special. The human and the mouse fairy each have half of each other, which means that everyone is imperfect and there will be an "evil fairy" living in their hearts. When after going through thousands of hardships to reach the "White Stone Mountain" (homophoned as "White Test") built up by desires, I originally felt that right and wrong were clear, but slowly each lost himself in the debate. The two knew each other and fought with each other, which is the fundamental contradiction in the human heart. The one who finally wins is the calm heart.
Interspersed in the middle are two mice serving as seasonings for the life of the rat wife, and then there is a rat that goes down the mountain to look for "imperfections" and continues to change lives, which is a metaphor for a person who is looking for a chance to be himself again, but the method is wrong. He still exchanges for his own life at the expense of others. The final epiphany is also to know how to be himself; there are also old men, which refers to the well-meaning elders in life. They set out on this road again to speak out their own experiences, and are even willing to sacrifice themselves to save others; the others are mostly used as foils.
