In order to prevent Thanos from destroying almost everything, the six Infinity Stones were fused together to become the consciousness of the universe. As a price, both superheroes and super villains have to go to different worlds to save civilians or messengers of justice (not) or villain bosses.
Successful rescues seemed to mark a happy ending, but things became interesting in the end.
