I still remember the first time I met him in his home at 23 Bell Street in post-war London in 1950. I will never forget the scene when I first met him.
He stood next to a fabric model, with a straightly ironed white shirt tucked into his suit pants, and polished leather shoes underneath. On top of the shirt was a black bow tie, his hair was combed back, he wore a pair of rimless glasses, his lips were slightly pursed, and the corners of his lips were slightly raised.
Due to the continuous rain, the room also became a little dark, but in my eyes almost all the light focused on him, and the aroma of sherry that had been wafting at the tip of my nose gradually became richer.
"Welcome, Miss Burlington, Mr. Burlington"
His cool and deep voice was neither small nor loud, but it amplified in my ears, almost bursting my ears.
I thought I had a cold temperament, neither sad nor happy, until that day.
