From the initial establishment of the Taichu Dynasty to Emperor Jiaping, it has gone through five generations of emperors.
Emperor Jiaping Rong Che, the ninth son of Emperor Taizong. Her biological mother, Empress Dowager Rongqing, came from a wealthy Meng family. She was drafted into the palace as a concubine, and later promoted to the rank of noble concubine in the Jin Dynasty.
At the age of 16, Emperor Jiaping left the palace to establish a government, and was granted the title of Prince of Dongchang County. Later, he followed the Jiang family army to conquer the Western Regions, retreated the Tatar cavalry, and destroyed the Loulan Kingdom. After the class teacher returned to the court, Jin was granted the title of King Jia. In the same year, the emperor went out with the Jiang family army to suppress the rebellion in the southern border area. The situation in the court was chaotic. Prince Yin Rongyuan forced Emperor Taizong to abdicate, and Emperor Taizong died of heart palpitations. Rongyuan took the Jiang family as hostages and forced the emperor to hand over the Jiang family's military power. After the emperor learned about it, he led 20,000 fine horses back to the capital. Jiang jumped over the city wall and died. Twenty thousand elite cavalry attacked the imperial city, and the emperor himself executed Rong Yuan under the Nine Dragon Wall of Taichu Palace.
On the first day of the first month of the following year, Rong Che ascended the throne as emperor, with the reign name Jiaping.
In the early years of Jiaping, he devoted himself to putting down the rebellion in the southern border war. Military families such as the Jiang family, Qiao family, and Meng family rose rapidly.
From the fifth to tenth year of Jiaping's reign, he devoted himself to rectifying the unhealthy trends in the officialdom. Because the prime minister overstepped his authority, the emperor dismissed the Zhongshu Province and abolished the prime minister system and established a cabinet system. During this period, the power of the Lu family, Yang family, Tang family and other forces expanded significantly.
Ten years after Jiaping, the national policy was gradually determined to be devoted to recuperation and economic development. During this period, the power of small bureaucratic families such as the Chen family and the Jia family also gradually increased.
