A long time ago, there was a long, long river whose water had not dried up for hundreds of years. Beiyan Village, located on one bank of the river, is constantly moistened by the river water, and has a prosperous harvest all year round.
The villagers believed that this river brought endless good luck to the village, so they named the river "Shanxian River", which means that the river god, like a kind sage, has the supreme merit of protecting people.
The river divides Beiyan Village and another forest into two completely different areas - Beiyan Village on the other side of the Shanxian River is full of people and lively all year round, while the forest on the other side of the Shanxian River is deep and quiet, and you don't even hear the chirping of birds.
The villagers thought that the silent forest might be the residence of the river god, and they never dared to disturb it. They just named the forest "Forbidden Forest" and prepared some paper boat lantern cakes from the other side of the river every winter solstice, allowing them to drift or sink with the river.
Some people say that every winter solstice night, a bridge will appear on the Shanxian River. The bridge is arched and smooth as if made of white jade. Different mythical animal totems are carved on the bridge head and tail.
There is a full moon in the sky, and there is a young man in white standing on the bridge. He is holding a folding fan and shaking it gently. He is elegant and personable.
