Our story takes place in the "Fourth Crusade" between 1202 and 1204 AD. This campaign was planned by Pope Innocent III and was an extremely religious military operation with the main purpose of conquering Egypt. According to the plan, the Crusade was originally scheduled to conquer Egypt, but later due to a series of unknown changes, the plan was changed to march into the Byzantine Empire ruled by the Orthodox Church, and successively captured two cities: "Zadar in Dalmatia" and "Constantinople". The Crusaders established several countries on parts of the disintegrated Byzantine Empire, the largest of which was the Latin Empire, which did not fall until 1261. Its territory included many areas of the Balkan Peninsula and northwest Asia Minor, as well as some islands in the Aegean and Ionian Seas. After the Fourth Crusade, the Republic of Venice, as the most powerful country in Italy, monopolized trade with Eastern countries and seized many important trade and military locations from Byzantium.
