The story takes place in a village called Luwan in the plains of eastern Henan. Sun Jiashu is a child with a severe stutter. His father hates him and often beats him. After being severely beaten by his father on the day he signed up for elementary school, he no longer stuttered. He learned to play guitar from a beekeeper and always dreamed of becoming a singer when he grew up. One night, he discovered that his father was having an affair with Teacher Zheng. He exposed them to his mother. My father and Teacher Zheng fled the village in humiliation. However, within a year, my father returned to the village and Teacher Zheng married someone else. The relationship between his mother and his father became more tense, and the estrangement between him and his father became deeper. He no longer called his father "Dad". Later, after he failed the college entrance examination, he went to work in the city and became a salesman. As time goes by, the gap between him and his father is difficult to eliminate, and he has forgotten the lyrics of the songs he once loved to sing.
